No glow for Rudolph by Allen Sweeny

It was Christmas Eve and Santa was packing his sleigh with presents for all the good boys and girls in the world when Mrs. Clause came running and shouting, ‘Santa, Santa, come quick, it’s Rudolph’.
Santa dropped everything and came running behind Mrs. Clause. She brought him to Rudolph’s stable where inside lay Santa’s number one reindeer. Santa’s face dropped when he seen Rudolph curled on a bed of straw without any red glow in his nose.
He called for one of the elves and asked them to go for a vet and bring him to the stable to treat Rudolph. He told him to take the emergency sleigh so he could magically have the vet there within moments. The elf did just that while Santa nursed Rudolph.
After a short time, the elf arrived back with a rather terrified looking vet who was just after flying on a sleigh in the snowy weather, a twenty mile journey in three minutes. Santa hurried the vet to come and examine Rudolph and try to solve the problem as soon as possible as he would have to leave on his big journey around the world in less than three hours and without Rudolph he wouldn’t be able to. Santa was scared because he didn’t want to upset millions of children expecting presents.
The vet told Santa that Rudolph was suffering from a lack of carrots and that he gave him plenty of carrots now and kept giving him some throughout the night then Rudolph would get his red glow in his nose back and Santa could go on the Christmas Eve journey.
Santa ordered all the elves and Mrs. Clause to get all the carrots that were in the kitchen. They did so and Santa fed Rudolph the carrots, and after every carrot he gave, Rudolph’s nose got redder and brighter.
After about twenty carrots, Rudolph was better again and ready to go flying around the world. Santa knew that all the good boys and girls of the world would leave out a carrot for Rudolph so he would be able to stay healthy and finish his journey.
So Kids, make sure that this Christmas you leave out a carrot for Rudolph to make sure he can fly all round the world and Santa can deliver everyone their gifts.
