Britons to 'spend less' this Christmas
Almost half of Britons plan to buy cheaper presents for their loved ones this Christmas than they did last year, according to a survey published.
The study found that 47 per cent will spend less on gifts, and only 7 per cent say they will spend more.
The poll, published in a Sunday paper, shows that one third of people will not buy a turkey for the dinner table, while more will opt for a cheaper frozen bird (27 per cent) than a fresh one (23 per cent). Shops cannot even expect good news in the January sales, as almost six out of ten people expect to have no money spare to go hunting for bargains, the newspaper said.
One in ten people said they would share all their Christmas spending with friends or relatives, while 37 per cent said they were more worried this year than in previous years about the grocery bill.
